I was brought in to help finish a woocommerce store build that was connected to Shopatron (now Kibo). They were also complaining about how long it took the site to load (when I was brought on board 30+ seconds). We finished connecting the cart to kibo and after that I proposed a plan to rebuild their site as it was currently over 8 years old and had a lot of spaghetti code from the 6 developers who had managed it prior to me. Over a 3 month period, I re-coded the entire site from scratch to match the look and feel of the old site, but also to be able to function as both a desktop site and a mobile site in one (prior to this, they were managing two separate themes and set of pages, one for desktop and one for mobile). It’s not fully responsive as they didn’t want to get that granular, but now the site works beautifully on both types of screens, and most importantly, load times are down to 1-3 seconds!
